Funeral clothing was very similar to the preparation of the body. It was significantly separated by wealth and social classification. The rich would wear all black, including clothing, jewels, ribbons and shoes. The poor would attend the funeral in whatever clothes they could afford.
There would often be a community feast as a chance for the community to mourn around a central dinner. People from the entire community would bring food and money to give to the poor and others in the community. It acted as a chance for the community to come together as a whole, and mourn the death of a lost friend.
